    Ruby – My Color for 2017

    Since 2013, I’ve been picking a color for the upcoming year. Lots of people pick words, but color has more meaning to me than a single word. This year I’ve seen thoughtfulness, achieve, discipline, and focus chosen as words of the year. For 2017 I chose the color Ruby. Ruby has a myriad of variations, including Rubine Red, Ruber, Ruby Red, and Antique Ruby. The beauty of color is it has personalities that can fit different applications.  For 2017 I wanted a color that was bold and represented passion and strength. Ruby fits the bill.     Marigold in 2016

    Passion & Creativity This is the fourth year I have chosen a color for the year. 2015 was Chartreuse. 2014 was Cerulean. 2013 was Aubergine. I choose colors for the depth of meaning and emotion attached to color. Most words chosen by people for a new year are abstract: success, health, wealth, gratitude. If questioned closely, they are unable to translate the abstraction into concrete meanings that can be lived out in their lives.
